Education

The University of Southern Mississippi
Applied Linguistics
2013
Study Abroad research project for introduction to Qualitative Research. Under Joanne Burnett (now at Penn State) I worked with beginner French students studying abroad negotiating with host families for language, and interviewed host families on their impressions on French L2 learners, and their accommodation to English in the home environment paired with ELF (English as a Lingua Franca) in the nearby zone of commerce that was Nice, France. Through this I determined that the French classroom, because of the use of ZPD and comprehensible input, was the most reliable and coherent access to the language. This required bilingual transcription, translation, and the completion of a thesis in French. During this period of time I tested as a C1 in France for language proficiency.
